Who can take part

  • You are between 50 and 60 years old.
  • You have had high blood pressure for at least 5 years.
  • Your blood pressure is still high (140/90 or above) even though you take 3 or more blood pressure medications, including a water pill, or your blood pressure is controlled (<140/90) but you take 4 or more medications.
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is between 25 and 34.9 (overweight or obese).
  • You have a large waist size: over 40 inches for men, over 34.6 inches for women.
