Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 65 years old.
  • You are scheduled to have your gallbladder removed (cholecystectomy) with general anesthesia.
  • You have either never had general anesthesia before, or you have had it at least once.
  • You do not have a chronic brain disease like Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, or multiple sclerosis.
  • You do not have conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, or heart disease.
  • You are not taking steroid or immune-suppressing medications (last 6 months).
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding.
