Who can take part

  • You are under 18 years old
  • You have adolescent idiopathic scoliosis scheduled for surgery
  • You are generally healthy (ASA I or II)
  • You do not regularly take painkillers or opioids
  • You have no allergies to the study drugs (opioids or dexmedetomidine)
  • You do not have nerve/muscle disorders, serious heart, liver, kidney, or lung problems
