- You are 18 years or older
- You have a confirmed blood clot in a lung artery seen on a CT scan
- Your blood pressure is stable (not in shock)
- Your heart shows signs of strain from the clot, like an enlarged right ventricle
- Your blood has elevated troponin (a heart muscle protein) levels
- You have at least one sign of higher risk, such as fast heartbeat, low oxygen level, or slightly low blood pressure
