Who can take part
- You have a diagnosis of cirrhosis (scarring of the liver).
- You have an enlarged spleen that is causing low blood counts (splenomegaly with hypersplenism).
- You've had bleeding in the esophagus or stomach from high blood pressure in the liver (portal hypertension).
- No blood clot is found in the main vein of your liver (portal vein).
- You must not have severe liver disease (Child-Pugh C), recent ulcers, uncontrolled blood pressure, HIV, or be pregnant.
