Robot vs. visual feedback balance training after stroke

This study compares two types of therapy—robot-assisted walking training and balance training using visual feedback—to see which helps improve walking and balance after a stroke. You may join if you had an ischemic or hemorrhagic stroke, can walk with some help, and have no major communication or vision problems.

Who can take part

  • You are between 21 and 85 years old
  • You have had a stroke (either clot-related or bleeding) confirmed by a doctor
  • You are able to walk at least with some help (e.g., a cane or a person's assistance) and rated at level 3 or higher on a walking scale
  • Your leg muscles are not too stiff (a low score on a spasticity scale)
  • You can follow simple spoken instructions and score at least 23 out of 30 on a memory and thinking test
