Who can take part

  • You are 18 years old or older.
  • You are comfortable speaking and understanding English.
  • For healthy volunteers: You have no known hearing problems, no neurological or psychiatric history, and passed a short cognition test.
  • For patients with a disorder of consciousness: You have a caregiver who can give consent, you are in the ICU within the last 28 days, and you show some response to sound.
