Who can take part

  • You must have a disorder of consciousness, either unresponsive wakefulness syndrome or minimally conscious state
  • You must be between 18 and 80 years old
  • Your legal representative must give written permission for you to join
  • You must have intact hearing pathways between your ear and brainstem on at least one side
  • You must not be on sedatives or certain medications like barbiturates, antipsychotics, or benzodiazepines
