Sacroplasty for pain from sacral fractures

This trial tests whether a procedure called sacroplasty (injecting bone cement into a broken sacrum) can safely reduce pain in people with sacral insufficiency fractures. If you have a low-energy fracture of the sacrum or back of the pelvis and have had pain for less than 6 weeks, this study may be an option.

Who can take part

  • Age 50 or older
  • A broken sacrum or back of the pelvis caused by a low-energy event (like a fall from standing height) confirmed on CT or MRI
  • Pain lasting less than 6 weeks and present for at least 48 hours
  • Able to have the procedure done with local anesthetic and optional sedation
  • Provide informed consent or have a consultee agree on your behalf
