Who can take part

  • You have been diagnosed with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (abnormal spine curvature in teenagers)
  • Your doctor has already decided you need spine-fusion surgery to treat your scoliosis
  • The surgery planned is a posterolateral fusion (fusing bones from the back-side of the spine)
  • The surgery will use instrumentation (metal rods or screws to stabilize the spine)
  • You are willing to be randomly assigned to receive either the new bone material or traditional bone graft during surgery
