Who can take part
- You are between 18 and 80 years old
- You have had chronic low back pain and/or leg pain (sciatica) for more than 6 months
- Your daily activities are limited due to back pain (measured by a disability score over 25)
- You are scheduled to have a spinal fusion surgery from the front (anterior approach) with a cage implant
- You have not had prior lumbar spine surgery (except for a simple disc removal)
- You do not have osteoporosis or other bone disorders, and you are not on medications that affect calcium metabolism
