This study tests whether ultrasound can help doctors figure out why fluid has built up around your lungs. You'll have an ultrasound scan and then a standard fluid-removal procedure (thoracentesis) that your doctor has already planned for you.

Who can take part
- You are 18 years or older
- You have fluid around your lungs confirmed by chest X-ray or ultrasound
- Your doctor has already scheduled you for a thoracentesis (a procedure to remove and test the fluid)
- You can give written consent to participate
- You have not had prior chest procedures like pleurodesis or chest tube insertion on the same side
- You do not have severe bleeding disorders, chest wall deformities, or severe obesity that would prevent clear ultrasound images
