This study tests whether an antibiotic called minocycline, given alongside standard stroke treatment (clot-busting medication), can help reduce brain damage and improve recovery. You would receive minocycline around the time of your clot-busting treatment.

Who can take part

  • Age 18–80 years
  • Confirmed acute ischemic stroke (blood clot in the brain) shown on CT or MRI scan
  • Receiving or planning to receive intravenous thrombolysis (clot-busting medication injected into a vein) within the appropriate time window
  • Stroke severity score (NIHSS) between 6 and 25, with no signs of bleeding in the brain on imaging
  • No significant disability or major neurological problems before this stroke
  • No allergy or recent use of tetracycline antibiotics, and no serious liver or kidney disease
