  • Stroke symptoms started within the last 24 hours (or upon waking up)
  • Moderate to severe stroke symptoms (NIHSS score of 6 or higher)
  • Brain imaging shows good tissue remaining in the back of the brain (ASPECTS score of 6 or higher)
  • Blood clot successfully removed from the vertebral or basilar artery in the back of the brain
  • Able to give written consent or have a legal representative do so
