  • Your baby has been diagnosed with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (lack of oxygen to the brain around birth)
  • Your baby is currently receiving cooling therapy (therapeutic hypothermia) as treatment
  • Your baby's heart rate and blood pressure are stable
  • Your baby does not have major birth defects
  • Your baby's skin on the feet is healthy and unbroken
