Who can take part
- You are 18 years or older and having a heart attack (chest pain with specific heart changes on EKG) that started less than 12 hours ago
- You are scheduled for emergency heart catheterization (a procedure to open blocked arteries in your heart)
- Imaging shows a large blood clot (grade 3 or higher) in your blocked heart artery
- Your blocked artery is wide enough (at least 2.75mm) for a clot-removal catheter to pass through
- You do not have severe shock, kidney failure, or bleeding problems that would make the procedure unsafe
- You have not had previous heart bypass surgery and do not need other blocked arteries treated at the same time
