  • Scheduled for open (not laparoscopic) stomach cancer removal surgery
  • Age 18 or older
  • Generally healthy enough for surgery (ASA class I–III: your doctor assesses this)
  • Will receive general anesthesia with a breathing tube
  • No serious untreated heart disease or severe lung problems
  • No recent mouth or tongue problems that would prevent viewing under the tongue
