Who can take part

  • Age 22 or older
  • Diagnosed with schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder
  • Tried at least 3 different antipsychotic medications (including clozapine) for at least 12 weeks each, without sufficient improvement
  • Currently experiencing severe hallucinations or delusions that score 6 or higher on a symptom scale
  • Able to walk without assistance and have stable housing and support
  • No recent substance use, brain injury, pacemaker/defibrillator, or other conditions that would make surgery unsafe
