Who can take part

  • You have symptoms of a stroke and imaging shows a blockage in the main artery at the back of your brain (basilar artery).
  • You are between 18 and 80 years old.
  • Your symptoms started within the last 24 hours.
  • You have a certain amount of brain damage visible on imaging (posterior circulation ASPECTS less than 7).
  • You have a moderate or severe stroke (NIHSS score of 6 or more).
  • You can give consent (or a family member can) and you do not have other serious medical conditions or pregnancy.
