Who can take part
- You have a blockage in the very beginning of your left anterior descending (LAD) or left circumflex artery (the side branches of the main left artery).
- You will receive a modern drug-eluting stent (a stent that releases medicine to prevent reclogging).
- You do not have severe disease in the main left artery (more than 30% blockage or heavy plaque buildup).
- You have not had a previous coronary bypass operation.
- You are not in cardiogenic shock, and you do not have end-stage liver or kidney disease requiring dialysis.
- You are expected to live at least another year and are not on a bare-metal stent or have a stent that is blocked again.
