Arm Recovery Exercises After Stroke: Two Training Methods Compared

Who can take part

  • You had a stroke 1 to 6 months ago (subacute stage)
  • The stroke affected one side of your body, specifically your arm
  • You are between 40 and 60 years old
  • You are medically stable enough to participate in physical therapy sessions
  • You can understand instructions and give informed consent to participate
  • You do not have severe muscle tightness, previous strokes, or other neurological conditions affecting your arm

This study compares two different ways to help improve arm movement after a stroke. It looks at perceptual motor training (which helps with planning and coordinating movements) versus repetitive facilitation exercises (which use repeated, guided movements to retrain the muscles). If you have had a stroke and have mild to moderate arm weakness, this trial may help you regain function.
