Who can take part

  • You have liver cirrhosis confirmed by imaging and enlarged veins in your esophagus or stomach
  • You have had at least one episode of bleeding from these enlarged veins in the past
  • You have a blood clot in your portal vein (a major vein in the liver) with certain blood markers showing increased clotting
  • You recently had an endoscopy (camera down the throat) that showed high risk of rebleeding, and you received treatment to prevent it
  • You have not previously taken blood thinners like warfarin, aspirin, or heparin
  • You are willing to sign a consent form and follow the study protocol
