Who can take part

  • Your child must be between 1 day and 17.5 years old
  • Your child must be on a mechanical ventilator (breathing machine with a tube in the windpipe)
  • Your child must have an arterial catheter (a small tube in an artery to monitor blood pressure)
  • Your child must be a current patient in the American Family Children's Hospital PICU
  • You must have an English-speaking parent or legal guardian able to give consent
  • Your child cannot have a tracheostomy (permanent opening in the windpipe for breathing)
