Stroke Recovery Program Combining Therapy and Brain Stimulation

This study tests whether combining a hand-therapy program (CIMT) with mild electrical brain stimulation (tDCS) helps women recover hand function and quality of life after a stroke. You would attend therapy sessions over several weeks while receiving non-invasive brain stimulation to help rewire your brain's movement control.

Who can take part

  • Be a woman between 30 and 80 years old
  • Had a stroke (either bleeding or clot type) more than 1 month ago, confirmed by CT scan
  • Have some ability to sit upright and control your trunk
  • Score at least 14 points on a thinking/memory test (Minimental Exam)
  • Be able to grasp and release a small ball with your affected hand
  • No severe shoulder pain or muscle stiffness in the affected arm
