Augmented reality and brain stimulation for balance problems

This study tests whether combining augmented reality (a computer-based visual experience) with a non-invasive brain stimulation technique called tDCS can help improve balance and walking in people with balance impairment. You would receive therapy sessions using both technologies together.

Who can take part

  • You have confirmed balance problems, measured by a specific balance test (Berg Balance Scale score between 21–44)
  • You are between 18 and 90 years old
  • You have little to no muscle stiffness in your legs (mild spasticity or none)
  • You can understand and follow instructions from therapists and a computer during sessions
  • You do not have implanted electronic devices like a pacemaker
  • You do not have severe cognitive impairment, severe pain, epilepsy, or significant vision problems
