Who can take part

  • Your heart rate drops very low (below 40 beats per minute) or stops for more than 2 seconds while awake, and this causes symptoms
  • No prior pacemaker implants
  • Normal electrical conduction between your heart's upper and lower chambers (no AV block)
  • No history of atrial fibrillation (irregular fast heartbeat)
  • Willing to wear a special heart monitor (Assert-IQ loop recorder) for the study
  • Able to read, write, and speak English; not pregnant; cognitively able to consent
