This early-stage research trial tests a new brain-imaging tracer called [11C]MODAG-005 to help doctors better understand Parkinson's disease (PD) and multiple system atrophy (MSA). You would undergo PET/CT and MRI scans twice, a few weeks apart, to see how reliable the imaging is.

Who can take part

  • Diagnosed with Parkinson's disease (PD), multiple system atrophy (MSA), or be a healthy adult without these conditions
  • No significant organ problems (liver, kidneys, heart) or unstable medical illnesses
  • No metal implants (pacemakers, cochlear implants, etc.) that aren't MRI-safe, and no history of claustrophobia in MRI machines
  • Able to have blood drawn multiple times and tolerate an arterial line (small tube in an artery) for blood sampling
  • Not pregnant, not breastfeeding, and willing to use effective birth control for 3 months after each scan
  • No recent experimental drug use (within 3 months) and no blood donation within 1 week of enrollment
