Who can take part

  • You have a neurological condition (like spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis, or similar) that affects bladder function
  • You have had neurogenic bladder for at least 6 months
  • You are 18 years or older
  • You do not currently have a urinary tract infection (UTI)
  • You are not hospitalized and live in the community
  • You have not taken any antibiotics in the past 2 weeks

Antibiotic to prevent UTI after bladder Botox

This study tests whether taking a low-dose antibiotic (nitrofurantoin) before a Botox bladder injection can help prevent urinary tract infections. You may be able to join if you are getting Botox for overactive bladder or painful bladder syndrome and do not have frequent UTIs or other health issues that would make the antibiotic unsafe.
