- Your spinal cord injury is in your neck (cervical spine, levels C4–C7)
- You are between 18 and 38 years old
- Your injury happened less than one year ago
- You are currently in an in-patient rehabilitation facility
- You have no serious pre-existing lung or breathing disease
- Your injury was caused by a road accident
