Who can take part

  • You’re 18 to 85 years old
  • Your spinal cord injury happened at least 6 months ago
  • Your spinal cord injury is in the neck area (C1 to C5)
  • You currently have breathing weakness—either you use a breathing machine or breathing tests show vital capacity under 80% (predicted)
  • A family member or caregiver can be trained and will help operate your ventilator during study visits (if you use one)
