Who can take part

  • You are 50 years or older.
  • You have been diagnosed with knee osteoarthritis (moderate to severe, based on X-ray).
  • You have not had any injections in your knee in the last 6 months.
  • You have not had knee surgery or a major leg injury with a fracture.
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is less than 40 (not severely obese).
  • You do not have diabetes, other joint diseases (like rheumatoid arthritis or gout), or a bleeding disorder.
