  • You are 18 or older.
  • You have had diabetes for less than 10 years.
  • Your HbA1c (average blood sugar) is between 7% and 10%.
  • You have symptoms of nerve damage in your feet or legs, like numbness, tingling, or pain.
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is 27 or higher.
