Who can take part
- You’re between 40 and 80 years old
- You have type 2 diabetes for at least 5 years, with A1c between 7.0% and 10.5%
- Your BMI is 25 or higher
- Your CT heart scan shows two separate plaque spots in the coronary arteries with more than 20% blockage
- Your diabetes medicines have been stable for more than 4 weeks before starting the study
- If you use oral hormonal birth control, you must switch to non-pill contraception (or add barrier protection) during dose changes and for the stated extra weeks
