Who can take part

  • You have been diagnosed with moderate to severe asthma that is not well controlled for at least 1 year
  • Your asthma is not controlled despite taking high-dose inhaled steroids and long-acting beta-agonists or biologics for at least 6 months
  • You are between 18 and 75 years old
  • Your asthma symptoms significantly affect your daily life (scoring less than 2.5 on a standard asthma quality questionnaire)
  • You are a candidate for surgery and have no reasons that would prevent getting this implant
  • You have a body mass index (BMI) of 35 or less
  • You do not smoke and have not smoked in the last 6 months, and your lifetime smoking history is limited
  • You do not have other major lung diseases like COPD, cystic fibrosis, or pulmonary fibrosis
  • You are not on blood thinners (except aspirin) and do not have a history of frequent surgical infections
  • You have not had a lung infection or asthma attack needing antibiotics or steroids in the past 6 weeks
