  • You are 18 to 80 years old
  • You have atrial fibrillation that hasn't been controlled well with medication
  • You have the paroxysmal (comes and goes) or persistent (lasts for weeks) type of atrial fibrillation
  • You have not had open-heart surgery before
  • You do not have another heart condition that requires surgery (like a serious valve problem or a hole in the heart)
