Who can take part
- You are between 22 and 70 years old.
- You have a diagnosis of bipolar I disorder and are currently in a depressive episode lasting at least 12 months.
- Your mania has been under control for at least 1 year, and you are on a stable mood-stabilizing medication.
- You have tried at least 4 different depression treatments (like antidepressants, therapy, or brain stimulation) without success in this episode.
- You are willing to live in or travel monthly to the New York City area for the first 6 months.
- You have not had deep brain stimulation or vagus nerve stimulation in the past.
