  • You have a full-thickness massive rotator cuff tear (a large tear in the shoulder tendons)
  • You are 50 years old or older
  • You are in generally good health, independent, and able to attend follow-up visits
  • You have not had drug or alcohol abuse in the past year
  • You are not in any other research study right now

Tuberoplasty vs. balloon spacer for irreparable rotator cuff tears

This trial tests two treatments for large, irreparable rotator cuff tears that cause pain: a surgical procedure called tuberoplasty (shaping the bone) versus placing a small balloon spacer under the shoulder bone.
