Optimising stereotactic body radiotherapy for non-small cell lung cancer and oligometastatic lung disease

This study is testing whether giving a higher dose of radiation to the tumour, while still keeping the dose to nearby organs safe, can improve control of the cancer. It's for people with early-stage lung cancer (or a single spot of cancer in the lung from another cancer) who are not suitable for or refuse surgery. The treatment specifically targets tumours that are near the chest wall, where a standard approach might not be safe, and uses a special planning scan to guide the dose.

  • You are 18 years or older
  • You have been diagnosed with early-stage non-small cell lung cancer or a single spot of cancer in the lung from another cancer
  • Your doctor has said you cannot have surgery or you have decided not to have surgery
  • You have not had any previous radiation therapy to the chest area
  • You are able to have a special CT scan that tracks your breathing
  • You are able to give consent
