Who can take part

  • You must be between 18 and 80 years old.
  • You are scheduled for your first lumbar stabilization surgery (back surgery to fix your spine).
  • You are in generally good health (classified as ASA I-III).
  • You do not have nerve problems in your legs that existed before this back problem.
  • You are not on chronic opioid therapy for pain.
  • You do not have a bleeding disorder, allergy to local anesthetics, or infection at the injection site.
