Testing eplerenone for eye pressure in healthy adults
Treatments studied
Part of Eyes & vision clinical trials.
This study tests whether a medication called eplerenone, which is normally used for heart and kidney conditions, can lower pressure inside the eye in healthy adults. If you're a healthy adult aged 18-50, this study could help researchers find new treatments for eye conditions like glaucoma.
Summary written for real people, not researchers, by Clin2.
Who can take part
- Be between 18 and 50 years old
- Have no history of glaucoma or high pressure in the eyes
- Have an eye pressure reading between 10 and 21 mmHg at the start of the study
- Have normal kidney function and potassium levels in the blood
- Have a systolic blood pressure (the top number) above 110 mmHg
- Not be taking certain medications (including some antibiotics, antifungals, heart medications, or eye drops) that could interfere

This study looks at how mineralocorticoid-related hormone signaling affects small heart blood vessels and how efficiently the heart works in people with high blood pressure. It may help doctors understand which treatments could improve heart function in hypertension.
This study measures how eye pressure and standard eye-function tests perform in people with normal eyes, higher eye pressure, or early signs of glaucoma. It may help researchers understand who is at risk and how best to monitor eye health before or during glaucoma.
This study tests a new eye drop against an existing one to see which better lowers eye pressure in people with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. You may be able to join if you have high eye pressure in both eyes that needs treatment and you are at least 18 years old.
This study looks at how different strength training exercises and breathing techniques affect eye pressure and blood flow to the retina. It aims to find safe exercise approaches for young, healthy adults to potentially protect eye health.
This trial tests an investigational drug called REGN22530 for people with mild to moderate primary open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension (high eye pressure). The goal is to see if it can safely lower eye pressure and protect vision.
This trial tests whether eplerenone (a blood pressure pill) can improve heart function in people who have had a kidney transplant and are taking cyclosporine or tacrolimus. It may help reduce the strain on the heart caused by these anti-rejection medicines.
