Who can take part

  • You are age 18 or older.
  • You have either aplastic anemia, or a low or intermediate-risk myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), including “hypocellular” types.
  • Your last chemotherapy, targeted therapy, or immune-suppressing medicines (other than steroids) were stopped at least 2 weeks ago, and side effects are back to mild or better.
  • Your organs are working well enough (liver and kidney blood tests are within the trial’s limits).
  • You’re generally able to do daily activities (performance status score of 2 or less).
  • You need treatment because of symptoms or complications from low blood counts (like transfusions, severe fatigue, bleeding, or frequent infections).
