Who can take part
- You must have diabetes type 1 or type 2 (with or without insulin) and have stable care before enrollment
- You must be between 18 and 75 years old and able to sign consent and follow study visits
- You must have at least one eye with very poor vision—from only hand movement to no light at all
- In the “blind” study eye, the eye must have a stable lens (either natural or an implanted lens) and clear cornea so doctors can see the front of the eye
- Your kidney function must be stable enough (blood test numbers must be above the study’s minimums)
