Who can take part

  • You are 65 years or older (or 60+ if you fit the second group).
  • You expect to stay in the hospital at least 2 days after your surgery.
  • Your surgery will use general anesthesia or spinal-type (neuraxial) anesthesia.
  • You can give written consent (or have consent given before surgery) for research participation.
  • You can attend required follow-up visits after surgery.
  • You are able to do brain and memory tests (language, vision, and hearing allow you to complete them).
