Who can take part
- Between ages 45 and 79
- You have type 2 diabetes and take diabetes medicines
- Your seated blood pressure is 120–139 (top number) and under 90 (bottom number) at the clinic
- You have not taken any blood pressure medicines in the last 1 month
- Your diabetes is reasonably controlled (HbA1c is 10.0% or lower)
- Kidney and liver tests are within limits (kidney filtering not too low, and liver enzymes not more than 3× normal)
