Testing imaging to study heart symptoms without blocked arteries

Coronary Microvascular DysfunctionHeart Failure With Preserved Ejection Fraction (HFpEF)

Who can take part

  • You are over 18 and can sign an informed consent form
  • You are having a heart catheter test (coronary angiography) for suspected ischemia (reduced blood flow) and do not have major obstructive coronary artery disease
  • Your heart pumping function is preserved, with ejection fraction (EF) 45% or higher
  • You can safely do a heart MRI: no metal devices in your chest, no severe claustrophobia, and no history of angioedema
  • You should not have very poor or worsening kidney function (GFR below 40 or recent acute kidney injury)
  • You can receive the needed medicines and contrast: no allergies to adenosine or related drugs, and no allergy to gadolinium contrast
