- Be 14 years old or older (but not 90 or older).
- Have symptoms consistent with heart failure.
- Have heart failure with an echocardiogram or MRI showing weaker pumping (left ventricular ejection fraction under 50%).
- Have signs such as “mid-range” or “reduced” heart pumping, or blood test evidence like higher pro-BNP (for example 400 pg/mL or more).
- Not be pregnant, and be able to give informed consent (or have a guardian able to).
- Not have certain other heart or non-heart causes (like infection-related causes, severe blood infection, or congenital heart problems), and not be in another trial.
