Who can take part

  • Your baby is planned to receive TPN (nutrition through a vein) for at least 7 days
  • Your baby has been diagnosed with congenital diaphragmatic hernia confirmed by doctors’ tests, including breathing/blood tests and an ultrasound of the heart
  • Your baby was born at 34 weeks or later
  • Both parents can sign the consent form after the study team explains risks and benefits (with two witnesses)
  • Your baby does not have major complex heart problems or certain heart conditions that turn the skin bluish
  • Your baby cannot have heavy ongoing bleeding that would prevent safe nutrition through the vein
