Testing MRI findings to find markers of brain blood vessel disease

Who can take part

  • Be age 55 or older (unless you have a known genetic form of the disease).
  • Have been told you have cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA) that may be “possible,” “probable,” or “definite.”
  • You must already have had at least one brain MRI scan for this study.
  • Your case should fit the brain-scan definition for CAA used in the study (the modified Boston criteria).
  • There should be no other explanation for brain bleeding (like a tumor, abnormal blood vessel, aneurysm, or cavernous angioma).
  • You must be able to have MRI, and you cannot be pregnant or breastfeeding.
