Who can take part

  • You have a newborn baby who is 31 days old or younger
  • Your baby is scheduled for heart surgery using a heart-lung machine for a congenital heart problem
  • No parent/guardian consent issues—you must be able to give permission
  • The surgery must not be an emergency
  • Your baby is not extremely premature and has enough weight (at least 36 weeks and 2 kg)
