Nitric oxide to protect brain and kidneys in babies during heart surgery

Who can take part

  • Your child is a newborn or infant under 1 year old.
  • Your child has congenital heart disease and is scheduled for corrective surgery that uses cardiopulmonary bypass.
  • Your child did NOT already need inhaled nitric oxide right before surgery.
  • The surgery is planned, not an emergency.
  • Your child does not have serious kidney disease before this surgery.
  • Your child is able to complete the study’s brain/delirium assessments (English is not required if translation is available).
